Running, Tsunamis and Hospitals

It’s Wednesday morning in Singapore and I’m lacing up my running shoes getting ready for an early morning run with Ludvig before starting the day’s series of customer and partner meetings.  As I switch on CNN in my hotel room, the headlines state, “Breaking News: 7.8 Earthquake in Indonesia – Tsunami Watch in Effect”.  After [...]

Land Ho!

Land Ho! We cruised into the docks in Ushuaia right around 0700 and disembarked around 0800. There was a lot of good-byes being said for those that were not doing the Fin Del Mundo marathon. I used Mike’s phone to call Linda and was sad to hear two things: one was that Trinity, one of [...]

Antarctica Marathon

The Antarctica Marathon was the most amazing experience of all the marathons.  Starting out and ending in Buenos Aires and Ushuaia Argentina, the trip included a 2-week boat journey through the Drake Passage and a number of zodiac expeditions through seals, whales and penguins. On the way home

Monday March 7th – my birthday On the way home! First a bus ride to the airport. Messing around with airport taxes, excess luggage fees, change from dollars to pesos and vice versa. 3 hour flight from Ushuaia to BA, where we took a 45 minute bus ride to the International airport. Check in with [...]

Fin Del Mundo Marathon – Race Day

2nd Race Day, Fin Del Mundo Marathon, Ushuaia, Argentina: Sunday March 6th – After getting up very early, the first thing I did was look out the window. I could not really tell about the weather, but I could see stars and thought that was a good thing. Went down to breakfast at 0630 before [...]

Back through the Drake Passage

Well, we are on the downhill journey now through the Drake. A couple of days of really relaxing, going to lectures, settling up our bills, starting to pack and getting ready to a return to society. Of course, many of us still have one more marathon to do, but it will take a while to [...]

Getting engaged at sea

Well, yesterday was technically my last day as President of Ericsson Indonesia. From today, Mats is in charge and I no longer have signing authority. But sitting here thousands of miles away it does not really matter. But I do start to think about getting back to Jakarta and wearing shorts and tee shirt again! [...]

Penguins! and Whales!

We took fairly early Zodiacs down the Errera Channel to another island off the continent where we landed the craft. The channel was where we spent the night surrounded by huge mountains and icebergs. When we landed, we had the possibility to climb a very large rock and ice/snow “hill” which was covered in Gentoo [...]
