Top Ten Tips for The Dipsea

  1. Get there early, for primo parking space. Close to bathrooms and able to fiddle around till your group is up.
  2. Eat pasta the previous night and several granola bars and banana the morning of the race.
  3. Hydrate hydrate and hydrate. Drink tea, vitamin water and water aplenty before the race.
  4. Drink at every water stop (3)
  5. Walk the 672 steps to start, no harm in that. Save your legs and go quickly behind the people ahead.
  6. Watch your every step but don’t be too cautious, be aggressive.
  7. Count every runner you pass and subtract those that pass you. Use it for inspiration.
  8. Make up time and move up the standings on the uphills, this is where you make it to top 750.
  9. Run like crazy on the downhills and especially the long stretches.
  10. With lots of energy left, sprint the last mile including the finish line with cheering fans!
  11. Bonus – as a reward, have a juicy hamburger and fries post race in Mill Valley before heading home!!!
